Special Rules Supplement

Quick question. Do the special rules of the supplement applies also to armies not inculded in the book? To make it crystal clear, does the roman velites could stand, passing their Terror Test, an elephant charge? And the Escort rule could be applied also to carthaginian or Numidian ellies, just to m...

Re: Elephant and charging questions:

This mine is more on the way an Elephant could charge an enemy, because in my last game I saw somenthing really "DBMish" and i don't know if it's in the spirit of the rules. So the question is: could an elephant "manouvre" in its charge so that it can only impact the corner of en...

Re: Halberd on Chariot

Yes that's what I notice, no difference in the book between mounted and infantry, but only foot troops in the QRS.

And you're right my mistake, halberd get +1 :)

Halberd on Chariot

Hi to everyone, we got a doubt about the halberds armed crew of the cheriots, like chinese and indinan, in the Classical Period. In the rulebook it doesn't make any difference between infantry and mounted troops armed with halberds, givin a +2 modifiers to the save roll of an enemy unit hit by them....

Fleeing Blocked Path

Hi to everybody, a question arise in our club about the "Completely blocked path" for a flee. Martin in this forum said that the espace needed to flee if you have enemies on you path is "A base frontage plus 2" would be the minimum for a unit to try to escape through." Am I ...

Breaking units cohesion tests

Re: Stamlna rules

Yes Bob, but the last part of Martin's answer was about my question of when the hastati start to use the pilum. If you look at the lists with an historical eye, open order units did not fight the manipular way. Anyway, Martin surely will explain better the idea of the stamina rule.

Re: Stamlna rules

No they don't. Extraordinarii and Italian Spearmen did not fight the "Roman" way, the manipular system, so they did not get the advantage of the Stamina rules. The stamina rule is a "subterfuge" to try and apply to the rules the extremely diffult way of fighting of the roman army...

Re: charge problem

I throw my 2 cents in, for what it worth. In the case of the elefant I should say it can't charge, but there's the possibility that friendly units could be pushed to acomadate a charging unit, or maybe, if it doesn't have room could be that conforming is not necessary. To this one I think Martin sur...
