Re: Raid Scenario Question

We used this scenario at a recent tournament and it went better than I expected, with the results evenly split between attackers and defenders after 6 games. I am fairly certain we had a situation where the villagers broke from bow fire in the first round and troops were able to loot in subsequent r...

Syracuse as a tournament army - reflections

Having just got back from the Pompey pillage, where I used a Syracuse army I thought I would share some thoughts about how it went and lessons learned. The Syracuse army is effectively a variation of a Greek Hoplite army. Knowing that Pompey uses a variety of scenarios and that can mean a fair bit o...

Re: Pompey Pillage. 11th - 12thAugust 2018

Thanks to Dave for organising and the Pompey lads for hosting. It was good to play Dave, Lee, Tony, Paul and Wayne as the games were competitive but played in good spirits. Mid table mediocrity was to be my fate after me army imploded in the last game between various elephants. Good luck to Mike as ...

Re: Movement in Shieldwall, and Commanders

The movement penalties are not cumulative, so 4" if within 8" of the enemy allows you to mve and stay in shieldwall. Commanders on foot just go more slowly, than mounted. No benefits except in very rare army specific situations. Roman centurions can be used to rally any type of unit if they are in r...

Re: Pompey Pillage. 11th - 12thAugust 2018

Andy With all those open order warbands you will be generating lots of momentum tokens when you charge in, what could possibly go wrong.....

Set up must take you across most of the board.

Looking forward to it all starting.

Re: Pompey Pillage. 11th - 12thAugust 2018

Mike, I can always pop out and get a new pair of socks from the supermarket, I can't just go and pick up a unit of Spanish spearmen with light armour and throwing spear that I might have forgotten!

Now what else is there.

Re: troop Percentage limits and also allied commanders

The percentage is based on points not on bases. Allies - you are not restricted by the main list. e.g. Anglo Danes have no cavalry in the main list, but can take Cavalry from their allies either Later Irish of Early Medieval Wales, but they may have to abide by restrictions in the allies list e.g. t...

Re: Pompey Pillage. 11th - 12thAugust 2018

A bit of a score draw this evening between Syracuse and the Pontics. Amazingly I outscouted Malcolm and he had to deploy first. Wayne I will have my army with me down at Waverley and I am currently free on Wednesday evening if you find yourself at a loose end and want to come and show me how it is d...
