Re: Possible Rules Amendments

Martin, et al. - Since we are discussing potential rule amendments for skirmishers, what do you think of limiting skirmish units to a maximum of four bases, and making foot skirmishers eligible to shoot from the first row of bases only? After all, skirmish units are supposed to be fragile, and I hav...

Re: Possible Rules Amendments

Hi Martin - I largely agree with all of the proposed rule changes. My specific comments follow: "Troops armed with bows, longbows or crossbows and no named melee weapon are Inferior Fighters." I agree. In regard to Wayne's comment about the Mangudai and other bow-armed Superior Fighters, my thinking...

Re: Painting help

To hold my 18mm miniatures whilst painting, I use grey tack to attach the figures to plastic bottle caps for infantry and larger plastic caps for cavalry. The trick is to use enough grey tack and 'sink' the figure base into it, like this:

Re: Ratio

From the Swordpoint page on the Gripping Beast web site: "After this initial schedule, we will be concentrating on producing campaign supplements which go into more detail about the refighting of great campaigns and wars of history (think, for example, of the Punic wars or the Successor wars, or the...

Re: EIR Centurions

I noticed the new erratum for EIR Centurions on the Swordpoint web site. It currently reads: "A Centurion is A+2, C+1 and costs 15 points. It is a Legate, rather than a Centurion, which can only command legionary units." IMHO the original list of commanders is perfectly fine. During the Republican a...

Re: Generals may ride chariot?

Hi Keith,

My reading of the rulebook is that, unless stated otherwise in the army list, the chariot is free and the model uses the commander's Attack and Cohesion values. The rules for commanders riding in chariots are on p. 35 of the main rulebook.

Scott

Re: Generals may ride chariot?

Hi Keith, Just in case you are interested in hearing from anyone besides Martin and Wayne... In the Classical Armies book, the total cost of the commander figure is as given in the Commanders section of the relevant army list. There are no additional points if he/she is allowed to ride on a horse, a...
