Re: WARFARE 2020

My thoughts on time frame. By this stage of the year we will have already played 2 x dark-age and 1 x classical event. I would love it to be biblical although I accept there may be an issue with numbers. Medieval I suppose, not open. What about a more narrow time-frame from the classical book. eg 40...

Re: Pompey Pillage 2020. August 8th - 9th.

Price is now confirmed as £35. The four main scenarios will be standard Swordpoint ones. 1). Meeting engagement. 2). Outscouted. 4).Flank attack. 5). Hidden deployment. The not yet finished third scenario is expected to be biased in favour of your scouting troops without commiting you to having 250p...

Re: Ghaznavid Points query

Hi Bob. I believe it to be quite good. I did much the same with classical Indians at the Pillage a couple of years ago. Assuming we played it correctly :- For a six base unit containing 6 spearmen and 18 bowmen you fire 6 shots per turn - you don't get the rear rank bonus shots because not all of th...

Re: Amendments to Shooting rules etc

p13 shooting.
Very often to shoot at an elephant you have to fire over your own troops and enemy troops as well. Should the elephant be counted as obscured ? It might help to compensate for how easily they fail their stampede test.

Re: Darius the not so great.

Thanks Martin. I've been away so have only now seen your response. Somehow I overlooked his defence value. Just to clarify, "Darius moves as a heavy chariot." Do you mean that he can move up to 12" in any direction (as a commander) but with chariot terrain restrictions, or that he has all of the mov...

Darius the not so great.

Can his +3 cohesion bonus be used to raise a units leadership value above 9 ? O.k, so sooner or later he will end-up in combat. What is his defence value? Chariot plus light armour = 4 perhaps ? Is he a superior fighter ? Is he a formed unit ? Can he be charged at by skirmishers ? Can he counter-cha...

"Used to chariots" token.

It might be easy to lose track of which units have taken a test for being charged by chariots. My rough idea is to place a token beside each unit that may have to take a cohesion test when charged by chariots and then remove the token if the test is passed. I was originally planning to use tokens wi...

Re: Chariot follow-on charge on revealed enemy

I don't mind which way the decision goes but I'd like a definitive answer before our first chariot game on Wednesday night. The elephant might not be a good example because its approach can be seen over the heads of the evading skirmishers. Perhaps a closer comparison would be if the evading skirmis...
