Re: Command figure

The Persian Great King remains an exception. Historically he frequently rode a heavy chariot so the army-list allows it. There are no heavy chariot units for him to join and he cannot join any other unit. See page 16 of the classical lists.

Re: Command figure

If a commander is not in a unit he cannot be attacked.
If he is in the path of a charge or pursuit, move him aside.
The only exception that I know of is the later Persian Great king if he is in a chariot.

Do they deploy first like other artillery, or at the same time as other units? Range . In theory they can fire 72". Can you choose a target out to...

Re: Warfare 2017

According to the rule-pack the lists have to be in by Oct 29th. I'll be playing some practice games on the 29th and will send you my list that night.

Re: Derby Worlds classical event

Thanks to my adversaries, Martin, Kevin, Robin and Bob. Sorry Martin - I've never seen such unlucky dice-rolling! Thanks Bob for reminding me that the Sassanids are not all-conquering. I had a great time - so did my elephants! Thanks to Wayne for organising and for answering mostly obvious questions...

Re: Pompey Pillage - 2017

Very belatedly I would like to thank all of you for coming along and appearing to have a good time.
Thanks also to Gripping Beast for providing prizes.

For your diaries - next year will be a classical event. August 11th - 12th. Same great venue.

Re: Sarmatian barding option

Sakae lived hundreds of years earlier and thousands of kilometres away. You cannot compare them. Sarmatian horses from burials are not considered large enough to carry full metal barding. Greek and Roman sources never mention Sarmatians using metal barding. No museum claims to have any Sarmatian bar...
