Re: Pompey Pillage. 11th - 12thAugust 2018

It looks likely that the ticket cost will remain at £33 for this year. It is advisable to book hotels early for this. A quick Trivago search for hotels and B&B's within 5 miles of Waterlooville shows 11 offers between £62-£88 for the two nights. This will cost more if you leave it too long. We still...

Re: Rockets

Thanks for the response Martin, all seems clear now. I have used a pair of rocket batteries in four games now. In the first three games they didn't trouble anyone. In game four they woke-up. In turn 1 they targeted an enemy archer unit and hit it causing 10 casualties. In turn 2 they targeted a nafa...

Re: Rockets

While you're thinking about the answers to the original questions, here's two more.
Rightly or wrongly I envisage rockets being launched up at an angle, therefore do they have a minimum targeting range?
Are they formed troops for the purposes of breakpoint?

Pompey Pillage. 11th - 12thAugust 2018

In 2018 we shall use the Classical Armies book, allowing any 1500pt army except for Later Sassanid. As usual the tables will be 8' x 4'. There will be five games using GB scenarios, three will be 1500pts, one will be 500pts and one will be 1000pts. The venue will be the Horndean Technology College, ...

Re: Warfare 2017

Thanks for the ground-work from Wayne and to Martin for running the event.
Shame about the venue.
I like the idea of prize vouchers.
Is there a list of the final placings? How much mid-table obscurity did I earn?
Hopefully see you all next year.

Re: Command figure

The Persian Great King remains an exception. Historically he frequently rode a heavy chariot so the army-list allows it. There are no heavy chariot units for him to join and he cannot join any other unit. See page 16 of the classical lists.

Re: Command figure

If a commander is not in a unit he cannot be attacked.
If he is in the path of a charge or pursuit, move him aside.
The only exception that I know of is the later Persian Great king if he is in a chariot.

Rockets

Cost . Hindu Indian rockets are 15pts and Muslim Indian rockets are 30pts. They appear to be otherwise identical so which one is incorrect? Deployment . Do they deploy first like other artillery, or at the same time as other units? Range . In theory they can fire 72". Can you choose a target out to...
