Combined formation containing both Open and Close order foot

Postby Bitesyurr » Tue Sep 18, 2018 3:47 pm

Can I clarify how this works with regards to the unit strength.

WoTR English, Welsh Archers (Open Order) can be in a combined formation with Welsh Spearmen (Close Order).

If I have a unit of 4 spears and 8 bowmen, would the unit strength be 40 (4x4 plus 8x3) or 48 (12x4).

Thanks

It's 40, add up the strength for each base. In some lists the archers in these types of units upgrade from open to close order.

Note that in wotr these units fight in mixed formation and not combined. It's in the medieval section of this forum
