Hi,

JUst to be sure, regarding the Thematic Byzantines. Can a Tagmatic sub-commander be chosen to lead thematic troops and vice versa, even if no tagmatic troop was selected?

Thank You,
Vlad

If there are no Tagmatic troops in the army, only Thematic commanders can be used.

Also regarding this issue, another 2 questions:

If Tagmatic troops are present in the army, can Tagmatic Commanders join Thematic Troops ? For example, can an Elite Themata Cavalry unit be led by a Tagmatic Commander, provided the army contains Tagmatic troops (such as Cataphracts) ?

Can Varangians (which are Tagmata) be led by Tagmata Commanders or Generals ? Because it says Byzantine commanders are mounted and only Thematic Officers can be fielded on foot, which means Tagmata Infantry units such as the Varangians cannot be led by Tagmata Officers, since mounted officers can not join infantry units.

Many Thanks,
Dan.

Hi Dan - there is no restriction on mounted commanders joining foot unit. Command figures on foot cannot join mounted units but mounted commanders may join foot units. Cheers W.

Hello,

Regarding the Allies percent: there is no percent given under the Army Composition for allies, but it says at the bottom of the page that Alan, Khazars, Pechenegs or Rus may be taken.

What is the percent of Allies that can be taken for Thematic Byzantines ?

Many Thanks,
Dan

The allies percentage is "up to 25%".
