Postby Paulb » Tue Oct 31, 2017 6:03 pm

Hi Paul,

On page 4 of the Swordpoint rulebook is a brief paragraph explaining why there are no war machines (i.e. artillery) included in the rulebook or army list books. It also mentions that there is a downloadable PDF on the Gripping Beast website with rules for Torsion Artillery, for those players who do wish to include them in their own scenarios. The link for that downloadable PDF may be found near the bottom of this page: https://www.grippingbeast.co.uk/Swordpo ... --384.html

Cheers,
Scott

You are quite welcome! And don't worry, things like that happen to all of us. :)

Hi, a couple of extra questions:
1.What would the Cohesion value and save for the the artillery unit?
2.Can the artillery be moved?
3.How many units can an army include.
4.How does an artillery unit affect an armies breakpoint

Thanks

As far as we are concerned, artillery doesn't feature in the rules and therefore the answer to most of these questions is "whatever you think is appropriate to your scenario". In armies like the Romans, artillery would be manned by legionaries and so would have the same cohesion as them. In other circumstances, go for C6 unless there is a strong rationale for it to be higher. I suggest that you do not allow artillery to be moved, you are just making things more complicated for yourself.

Thanks Martin. Looks like I will have to come up with some other ploy to defeat those damned Elephants!

Auxiliary archers stationed behind legionaries seems to be the standard EIR answer

ah - but it doesnt help Caesarians. Thinking perhaps a load of Pergamene skirmishers.
