Medieval French

Postby Blauer Max » Sun Sep 23, 2018 8:54 am

Hey fellas!

I have a couple of questions concerning the Medieval French army list.

First of all, I can take Scottish allies - i really like that, but they list Schiltrons as one of the units, but I cant find them in the Scottish list...can someone point me the right way?

Second question:

I may combine xbow militia with spearmen...In the core rulebook they talk about half archers etc. but it doesnt say anthing about it in the army list. Also it talks about "The first base of xbow can shoot at full effect, in an exception to the usual rules."....I have NO idea what that is supposed to mean....

Schiltrons are blocks of spearmen, the "Common Folk" in the list.
In your combined formation (see rules and errata) your crossbowmen will be behind the spearmen. Usually crossbowmen cannot shoot other than from a front rank, but in this formation they can shoot even from behind the spears.

Bowmen behind the spearmen is a really cost-effective setup, right?

Yes this is a very useful formation.
