Looking forward to this one at 1500pts, but following Swindons event I may have to rethink my army as even on 8ft wide table those pesky Shieldwall armies will be able to go edge to edge and deny their flanks for my nippy Open Order Welsh to get on to... need to stiffen my Battle line with my own Superior, Shieldwall, 2HW units... plenty of time to think and choose an army...

It will be more Japanese for me as that's about all I can field at 1500pts. Same composition as Swindon but will add a few more cav and some monks.

Siamese (Burmese without attitude). Bit miffed as I can only get 10 elephants not the 15 allowed in the list.

Ellies against a shield wall manned by superior fighters - I wonder how that would go.....

Thanks to Wayne for starting this thread. I'll be organising the event this year and will drip-feed the info over the next few weeks. We aim to have the player pack ready for the end of March.
For those not familiar with our event we play 3 games at 1500pts, 0ne at 500pts and finally one game at 1000pts. All on 8' x 4' tables.
Tony Stafford only using 10 elephants? Must be another Tony Stafford!
Thanks in advance to Gripping Beast for providing prizes.

now I forgot about my Burmese! They were lucky once against the WAB shiedlwall that was Sparta, maybe they can prevail against the likes of an ANgl-Dane shield wall (unlikely not with them being superior and having 2HW - me thinks the nellie will die very quickly... it is a thought though...

And Tony I see what you mean - the Burmese list while initially it looks great for 15 elephants the minimums of cav and inf mean that its more like 1 elephant per 150pts assuming you wnat to take a few "Characters" as well (typo there in the Burmese list - should be Commanders).

Regards

Two ellies hitting a superior shieldwall (matching up frontages) - 6 attacks in total (4+2) = 2 hits no save but no base removal

Coming back - 8 attacks = 4 hits = 2 saves - so honours even. Then the shieldwall outnumbers the ellies 2:1 on base strength and wins.

When you take into account that some of the hits from the crew will be saved and that some of the defenders will hit the crew who have a lesser save than the ellie then the ellie should lose, but then you roll the dice that have never heard of statistics......
