Some questions

Postby Leondegrande » Mon Dec 05, 2016 7:54 am

Hi.

Just some questions:
Will there be a 150 pages hardcover version of the rulesbook next year?
Why the scenarios and warmachine rules weren't put into the rulesbook?
Will the period army list collections be hardcover?
How about a more detailed structure with more sub-forums?
What do you think about community made QRS and Rules Summary (like I did for WAB/WAC)?
How to prevent the Living FAQ to become too large?
Why not all Scenarios in one PDF to download?

Regards
Olaf

Hi Olaf, The reason for the soft cover and downloads is to keep the price as low as possible. There are no plans for a hardback at the moment, though we remain fkexible. There will be a QRS very soon. As I didn't set up the downloads I don't know why they are spread out

Is there a weapon modifier for infantry with thrusting spears?

CAV get a DEF +1 when charging with spears (not mentioned thrusting or throwing).
INF get additional dice for second row bases in first round with throwing spears.

Sounds like INF shall get additional dice for second row bases with thrusting spear in combat, except when charged that turn.

And can the General Discussion sub-forum split in two: General (not rules related) and Rules (rules related)?
(If possible a small picture of the rulesbook would be great, feels like back home again ;))

There is no modifier for infantry armed with the most basic infantry weapon, a spear. And no extra dice. They fight pretty well as it is!

Is there any other disadvantage for Inferior fighters than hitting Superior on 5+?
(Normal fighters hit Inferior also on 4+ and be hit at 4+ from them).

In the Gallic list Warriors cost 14pts with D (6), C (5) with throwing spear, shield, Warband and the option to be Open Order +11pts.
In the Baltic Pagan list Warriors cost also 14pts with D (6), C (7) with throwing spear, shield, Warband and Open Order.
C (7) is obviously a misprint, but the points seem to be a bit strange or is it +1pt?

Open Order Warbands with throwing spears and lowered points for being Inferior Fighters look like a good choice in games of Swordpoint.

Leon, looking at the download list for the Gauls this morning, the option is to field the Warriors as Open Order at 11 points, not at +11 points!

On your point of Open Order Inferior Warbands with Throwing Spear, I can't actually think of any historical troop types that would fit this profile!

Will have to check the original files but the Baltic Pagans are correctly pointed at C7- whether this is the correct level of Cohesion for them is a different question!

Were are the Wagon, Wagon Tabor and Artillery rules?
Upcoming pdf files or waiting for list compilation of relevant period?

Wagon Tabor rules are in the Dark Age book. Gunpowder artillery is in the medieval book, rocket artillery in the Dark Age book.
