Hi old buddies!!!

Postby Tim Haslam » Tue Apr 25, 2017 4:24 pm

Well, would you Adam and Eve it!
This is where you're all hanging out

After a long time in the wilderness (mostly playing WWII)
I'm considering a return to ancients.
I assume with all the combined wisdom on this forum, that this must be a good set of rules?
Plus the authors heritage.

Long story, but let's just say I'm starting from scratch here, so no armies!
I naturally gravitate to the classical period.
As I understand it my armies would consist of roughly the same amount of figures as the old WAB armies?
What about basing, are these element based but still using frontages from WAB?

That's enough for now.
Cheers

Hi Tim, welcome back. What are you up to these days?

Basing is 40x40 mm for formed infantry and 50x50 mm for cavalry so very compatible with WAB - I am using my old WAB armies without having to do a great deal or rebasing. Skirmishers are on bigger bases but sabot's work well if you do not want the hassle or rebasings.

Continuing Tim's theme are there any players that would be happy to do a demo for a few of us to give us some idea of how the game plays :-)

If you search You Tube you can find a very uninspiring demo - no real toys to look at, just some narrated slides.

There is also a forum on Facebook which you can join if you want to.

As soon as I'm back from my holiday (getting over Salute) we should be on to the videos. There is a one-day event soon near Evesham (see details in event section) which is for all levels of experience and includes walk-throughs if anyone wants one. Sadly I'm unlikely to get up North in the near future.

Hi Andy,

Well it's raining in Manchester, which is very unusual?
My whippet has put on weight, and I need a flat cap for my bald spot

Just trying to put our heads round these new rules.....

I don't have a whippet but I do have a cap.
Can you send some of that Rain south, it's not rained down here for weeks. I'll have to water the garden soon.
Cheers
Andy
