Ostrogoths vs Japanese

Postby Wayne Richards » Thu Feb 02, 2017 5:22 pm

Managed a couple of games today; Ostrogoth vs Japanese. We played the Meeting Engagement and Outscouted scenarios. Both ended in convincing wins for the Ostrogoths. The Japanese just couldn't stop the barded Ostrogoth juggernaut which dished out a vicious amount of kills whilst taking few in return. Good fun none the less.

Looks great! Were the Goth cavalry really that effective into the front of the Japanese infantry, even with only 1 attack and base strength 2? On paper I had been thinking cavalry would get smashed against formed foot, even with the armour.

Thanks for the pics :)

Yep, they had 3 units going in, each with a commander or general, so 5 or 6 attacks per unit, striking first because of their Kontos and hitting on 3's against the retainers as Superior fighters. Their good defence meant they we hardly taking any casualties in return.
The Bushi held up ok but the retainers got mashed.
On reflection I should have pushed the Bushi forward to take the charge and not commit the retainers. I could have still kept the retainers in the battle line to support the Bushi.

The skirmishers managed to discourage the samurai cav but didn't play apart after that. They are useful for screening, for support on the end of a battle line and for restricting movement.
Have a game scheduled for Thursday so will do another report then. Cheers W.

WOW looks awesome, as mentioned with only 2 game so far, I feel Cav has a hard time against inf, and is best used in a supporting role to flank :D
But looks fantastic
