Dark Age Britain "Irish and Scots"

What do you guys think of the following list:

1 High Chieftain + 5 Minor Chieftains (100pts)
2u of 4 Chariots (2x 108pts)
1u of 6 Skirmish Cavalry (96pts)
1u of 10 Elite warriors w/ light armour (170pts)
1u of 8 warriors and 3u of 7 warriors (88 + 3x 77)
3u of 8 skirmishers (2 w/ javelins, 1 w/ sling, 32pts x3)

Total: 997pts (100pts Commanders + 312pts Cavalry + 489pts Infantry + 96pts Skirmishers)

Any comments?

I would have wanted to take more Cavalry (Noble and/or Skirmish) but the list requires at least 50%+ Infantry, out of which only 1 Elite - hence the large number of Warriors.
Would you prefer 4units of 7/8 warrior bases, or 3 units of 9/10 (in addition to my Elite Warriors)?

The generic plan would be to have the 4/5 units of Warriors steady at the back, advancing in 1 line, protected by skirmishers to their front.
Skirmishers in "large" groups (8 rather than 6) with the hope of making a couple of meaningful damages.
The 2 units of Chariots and 1 unit of Skirmish Cavalry would try to manoeuvre on the flanks (either just on 1 flank, or on both) to go on the sides / behind the enemy lines, and after 1 or 2 shootings the Chariots woud try to charge at the same time as the infantry lines would meet.

Any suggestions more than welcome ! :)

Idea sounds fine, may want to consider the maximum number of foot skirmisher bases is '6' rather than 8. Four units of 6 rather than 3 of eight would still work out. Chariot units are not big and you will be discouraged with just 1 unsaved hit.

At the end of the day, you won't know until you give it a go.

If you are playing in period you won't face too much shooting, so four units of 7/8 bases is more flexible and useful than 3 of 9/10.

Thank you Bob and Martin!

Arf, I didn't realize that skirmishers are limited to 6 bases per unit, my bad.

My only reason for fielding 3 big units of warriors rather than 4 smaller ones was simply to allow 1 Chieftian in each, but I agree with you Martin that this might not be the most flexible arrangement.

Playing on Friday ... will let you know how it goes ! :D

You have the ability to have lots of commanders, no respecting warband should leave home without one, so see where you can fit an extra one or two in :D
