Combined Units

Postby Theophanes » Tue May 09, 2017 3:37 pm

Hi, Sirs:

I´m a full dummy in this ruleset, just brought for me by a friend from Salute, but after a first test game, we will leave WAB to play Swordpoint!
One question: I´m collecting an Anglo Danish army: can I purchase some bases of Huscarls armed with 2handed axes and other with spears and form all of them in a unit with some bases of Fyrd?

Thank you!

Hi Theophanes - the Anglo Danes can combine Huscarls and Fyrd to form combined units. 50%-67% (half to two thirds) must be Fyrd. Cheers W.

So long as you can tell which bases are which, I have no problem with you doing that. This is a specific response affecting only this list, not a general rule.

Oh! That will help when I am designing a list to know that I don't have to equip the whole unit of Huscarls in the same way. A couple of points here, a couple of points there.

What about Hirdmen units? .....eerrrrrr pop slither as the lid comes off a can of worms...

I would be prepared to allow it for Hird as well. The point is the troops historically would have carried a right old mix of weapons, the figures are easy to distinguish, and only the front row of bases are affected. I would not entertain it for different shield types, or mixing throwing spears with other types and so on.
