Hi all, just reading the rules prior to rebasing my Normans, am I right in thinking that formed archers are rubbish in close combat, they have no defence stat.

I have 5 invitations to give for Netflix accounts. If you want you can send me PM :)

In close combat, they are pretty pants, as they have no armour save, and as they have no named melee weapon they will also be considered inferior fighters. However, on the flank they can still be effective. Just don't let them get caught out in the open on their own!

Hi Paul, the archers will be useful in the early rounds of the game for gaining you momentum tokens and for weakening the enemy prior to your knights charging home.
As you would perhaps expect, they are not great in melee but being part of a battle line (ie supported on the flanks) and with a Commander nearby, they can stand for a round or two depending on what they are acing and how your dice go.
Cheers W.
