War of eth Roses - Men at Arms and Retinue archers

Postby Bitesyurr » Thu Sep 13, 2018 10:59 am

I have now had my third game with the rules - enjoying them, and beginning to get an idea how things work.

However I do have a query about the lists.

Why are the dismounted Men at Arms down graded from Superior Fighters as compared to the ealier English list whilst the French dismounted Knight from the same period is Superior.

Also, why does the retinue archer not have at least the option to use a sword, as per the earlier list, and the Burgundian list?

FInally, I have just noticed - in the errata is says "Retinue Billmen and Archers form Mixed Order units, not Combined Formations. Militia Archers and BIllmen, and Welsh Archers and Billmen, can also do this." There are no Welsh Billmen - should this be Welsh (Spearmen)?

Thanks

The somewhat flippant answer to the first question is that the lists were originally written by a Frenchman. You can upgrade one unit to Household as per the mounted version. Yes the Welsh should be spearmen not billmen.
