Shooting and Hills

Postby Bitesyurr » Sun Nov 04, 2018 9:43 am

Played a game yesterday, introducing 3 friends to Swordpoint (a case of the blind leading the ignorant!).

At one point we had a situation where a unit on a hill was the target of a unit of bowmen below the hill. The bow unit contained 10 bases, on a 3 base frontage (it had reduced frontage to allow another unit room to move up next to it). Assumming that all bases have line of shoot and range on the target unit, how many dice are rolled.

After some discussion we decided that as the target was on the hill and therefore visible to all ranks they could all shoot 10 dice, with 2 bonus dice for the 3 bases in the second rank. Was this correct, of should we have only allowed the first 2 ranks to fire as normal?

The unit is a viable target, however only the front two ranks are eligible to fire, therefore 8 shots. Cheers W.

Thanks Wayne - so you can never fire more than 2 ranks. What about if you have 2 units of shooters, one behind the other (admitedly on a very big hill).

They both fire so long as both can see the target. And you get the cheesy git award. And yes, I have done this!
