Vikings/saxons

Postby veryangrytoad » Sat Dec 08, 2018 9:50 am

Hello
Was thinking of using kings of war historical but the characters are very much kept at the rear of fighting blocks of thegns and fyrdmen , like wise for Vikings.
This didn't feel right and I'd like to know if if can put your heroes/ nobles in the front rank with sword point and are there any other period specific things to make a shield wall battle a little more interesting?
Many thanks Toad

In Swordpoint a commander may join a unit. When with a unit they are assumed to be in the centre of the front rank. The commander provides additional dice during melee and a bonus to the units cohesion (morale).

Swordpoint includes a special rule - "Shieldwall" which provides a benefit for troops with this rule. In addition the Viking list provides the option to include berserkers in your army.
Cheers W.
