Amendments to Shooting rules etc

Postby MartinG » Fri Jun 28, 2019 7:35 am

We have now uploaded to the Gripping Beast website a revised set of errata for the main rules, which will form the basis of the alterations we will be making in version 2 of the rules. Don’t worry, there will be no need to buy a new set unless you want to! We intend to set up a polished version of the amendments in the ruleset style which will be a free download from our website.
The latest changes slightly reduce the effect of shooting, especially by inferior bowmen and levy troops. They also downgrade the abilities of missile troops in combat. Note that missile troops are not automatically inferior fighters, so the army lists descriptions and points remain unaltered. We do not envisage making further changes, although we may incorporate some wording clarifications which have come up from questions asked by email or on the forum. There is no set date as yet for the publication of the new version, as we are concentrating on the 6mm-10mm ruleset and the Genghis Khan supplement at the moment.

p13 shooting.
Very often to shoot at an elephant you have to fire over your own troops and enemy troops as well. Should the elephant be counted as obscured ? It might help to compensate for how easily they fail their stampede test.

Yes the elephant is an obscured target in these circumstances.

The extra dice provided by the javelins apply to all troops who carry them, but do not attract modifiers.

Does unit with atl-atl have the javelin bonus?
In This case does the defense modifier work?

a unit of 6 bases (3×3) eagle warrior with Two handed weapon and atl-atl have 6 dice with a défense moifier of +2 and 3 dice with defense modifier of +1?

Tanks

The javelin dice do not attract modifiers in any instance.

If the Javelins can be used in the shooting phase, must they be used then or can you decide not to use them and keep them for the coming combat?

You never have to shoot in the shooting phase.
