I would just like some clarification on the formed infantry moving into contact.
1: The original post used the words "close order infantry MUST charge enemy unit on his front with 2 inches of movement ?" Is a unit required to charge or can it sit there or use a remaining move to get to 1 inch away?
2: Poster asks "So they don’t have to charge from 4” and lose close order status then? Answer" No they don't consider themselves within charge reach at that point" On page, under movement rate 20: 5.1 it say's "but will not count as close order should it move over 2 " while moving into combat". Does this mean that a close order unit can charge at 4 inches?
A unit it not compelled to declare a charge unless it is a Warband which has failed its start of turn Cohesion test.
Close order infantry charge 2", unless as per the last sentence of 5.1 on page 20, it is charging the flank or rear of an enemy unit and no other enemy would impose a movement restriction on it.
