Swindon Medieval Event 2021

Postby andy » Thu Jun 18, 2020 11:45 pm

Swindon 2021 is a medieval event - will it be 1000pts or 1250pts?

With social distancing in place it may force the organisers to reduce the size of the armies to meet the current government regulations. I believe that the line of battle requirement that you have to be within 1" may be relaxed so that you can have line of battle if you are within 2"!

On a more serious note I think 1,250 points is the standard size for medieval armies and what was used last time there was a medieval event.

Yes assuming we are able to put the event on, it will be 1250 points. It will also be to second edition rules. Early warning-those of you with troops who are "riding horses/camels" may want to paint the mounted versions of your units.......

On a one foot figure to one mounted scale?

Or would an approximate base size do?

For example an Anglo Danish army; that's a hell of a lot of mounted miniatures to paint at a one to one scale

Sadly I have had to cancelled my room at the inn as I will not be able to attend. Good luck to those who can.

It seemed inevitable. I would have loved to have been able to step up and go but decided early on that I couldn't take the risk (health).

Here's to later on in the year. This will all be behind us soon enough. :)

Hang on in there everyone.

We discussed the event yesterday, while we waited for Mrs Miggins to bring out the badger and stoat pies. We will take a final decision in early January, but it seems almost inevitable that the event will be postponed (not cancelled) and we will offer those who have entered the choice of a refund or a transfer to the new event. Too many nice new medieval armies have been built for us to simply forgo the event! We will hope to re-arrange for the summer or more likely the autumn.

Sounds sensible. I've been beavering away trying to get a new army painted up - am just about on schedule but it would mean turning up without ever having played them before. Cheers W.
