Good spot! Sorry about that, the Spara rule did not make it across from the Swordpoint rulebook for some reason. This is the rule: "Some troops are equipped with the Spara, a very large cane wicker shield that was propped up in front of the unit for protection, Spara count as large shields and give the unit the Shieldwall rule as long as at least half the front rank is equipped with them and the unit does not move. It also negates the Close Order and depth bonuses in combat, for both sides. If the unit follows up or falls back in combat it retains the -2 Defence modifier for the large shield, although it loses the Shieldwall benefit. A fleeing unit abandons its Spara for the rest of the game".

“give the unit the Shieldwall rule as long as at least half the front rank is equipped with them and the unit does not move.”

Martin, can you explain this a bit better.

With movement are we talking about just that turn? I.e. if i want to benefit from shieldwall in the shooting phase, then i have, in effect, decided to forego moving in the upcoming movement phase?

Do i lose shieldwall the following turn if I follow up or pursue, or does everything “reset” at the beginning of the next turn? Or does it mean because i used Shieldwall in combat that I cannot pursue or follow up?

You will always get Shieldwall in the Shooting Phase unless you lost it in the previous turn due to movement or combat loss, but will not have it in the Combat Phase if the unit moved in the Movement Phase. If the unit is stationary in the Movement Phase it will regain a lost Shieldwall benefit, unless in Combat.
